ilkley-adventure-festival-social-swim-1-3
Ilkley Adventure Festival - Social Swim (1/3) **RESCHEDULED**

Social swim in the river Wharf led by our Alpkit Ilkley team

Join some of the staff from the Alpkit Ilkley store on Sunday 9th October for a social swim in the river Wharfe to kick start our month of adventure!

**This event was originally planned for October 1st but was rescheduled due to bad weather**

The plan for the day is to meet outside the shop at 9am and head down to the river, the spot we are swimming in is at the bend in the river by the tennis club (Google Map co-ordinates 53.92937231657604, -1.8332376180699665) so you can meet us at the shop, or if you live closer, the river, at approx 9.15am.

As it is October, and some of you may be new to it, we're planning for this to be more of a dip than a long swim. This swim will be guided by Sophie, she'll be in a swimming costume as opposed to wetsuits but definitely bring your own wetsuit if that makes you feel more comfortable. We'd recommend that you wear swimming gloves and socks, as your extremities get cold quick and it can be uncomfortable.

The entrance to the river is a sandy beach, that then becomes rocks as you enter the river so you may also prefer swim shoes/trainers too. Apart from that, beyond the obvious of a towel, I'd recommend you bring a woolly hat and something thick and warm to wear after your swim.

We'll also have free coffee/tea and snacks available back at the store post-swim too where Sophie will be about to chat about all things swimming and answer any questions you may not have had chance to ask down at the river.

We do like to reiterate this is social swim, Sophie doesn't have any qualifications, just a love of wild swimming, and you are responsible for your own safety.

**This event is weather dependant - if we've had previous nights of heavy rain and the water levels are unsafe this event will be postponed**

Please contact the store if you have any other questions;
Ilkley@alpkit.surf
01943 597577

Book your place on this free event through eventbrite here

Buy Tickets on Eventbrite Book your place
